Will humans someday live on the moon? Will robots ever rule the Earth? In my opinion these two questions are similar, because it is a desire controlled by humans. 500 years ago, if you asked whether or not humans would ever step foot on the moon, the answer would have been a quick NO. But how exactly did we get onto the moon? People wanted to, so they took action. Where there’s a will there’s a way, as the saying goes. Will the robots ever rule the Earth? They will, if humans want them to.
If we allow or want them to, robots will soon be serving dinner, making human and robot friends, building factories, doing IT jobs, and even running for president. Perhaps they will make the Earth a better place by clearing pollution or fighting crime. With our growing technology, robots will eventually be capable of doing almost everything humans can do except for one – think. But when the medical industry is developed to a certain level, transplanting a brain to a robot could be possible too. They will then have their own opinions, feelings, and creativity. And then they will make decision on their own, rather than being a machine that just follows our instructions.
What if we don’t want this happen? Without a will, though, humans will still have the technology to create robots this way. But instead, they would be made to serve us.
I think robots will rule the world. We’ve already destroyed too much of the planet Earth. If we hand it into the hands of robots, they will take one of the two paths: Let us stay here and enjoy a better lifestyle, or bring humans to another planet before the Earth dies. But do we really want robots to totally control us humans? That’s a question we might not be willing to answer “yes” to right now.
