It’s the winter break! The days of school are finally over! This winter, I hopped on a plane and went to Las Vegas!

Background Info

Las Vegas is a city in Nevada, United States. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada. Established in 1905, Las Vegas was incorporated as a city in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in that century. The city’s tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films, television programs, and music videos. It is not really a good place for kids, but the scenery is. From the start On Wednesday 17, 2014, I was packed and ready. I was very lucky that I got to go to school before I was leaving because we had a big project that day. I said goodbye to the classmates and I went to the airport with my family and friends. Once we landed there, I looked out the window and I watched the beautiful lights passing by. We went to our hotel – Flamingo Hotel and went straight to sleep.

The Mac King Magic Show

One of the first things we did in Las Vegas was going to The Mac King Comedy Magic Show. Mac King was our host, comedian, and magician. He won Best Bargain Show in 2002, and every year after that until 2012. He also won Best Magician in 2007. When the show started, he asked for some adult volunteers to assist him with a rope trick. He cut all side of a rope and they got back together with knots! Then, he asked for a brave 9-year old onto the stage to complete the trick. I raised my hand as high as I could and I got chosen! One of my favourite tricks was when King put a fish-shaped carrot inside his mouth and it turned into a real fish! I got scared when he did shadow puppet, he showed a bear puppet and a bear came out and gave me a high-five. In the end, I got a book he made and some VIP tickets to another show. I loved the show, it was fantastic!

High Roller

Shining bright on the Las Vegas Strip, the 550-foot-tall High Roller is Ferris wheel that gives you the complete view of Las Vegas at a glance. It’s hard to picture what a cabin looks like since it can hold up to 40 people in one. There are benches on either side of the cabin, with plenty of floor space in between. But we imagine you’ll want to stand against the window and admire the view. It could be very scary if you are afraid of heights, but they have TV’s to tell you everything that’s happening. My friends were so amazed because the sight was so beautiful. You could see Las Vegas’ light, Flamingo, Paris hot air balloon and Eiffel tower, Bellagio’s music fountain, Mirage’s volcano show, New York, New York/ The statue of liberty and Excalibur. When the cabin reached 550 feet, everybody was screaming. This was the highest point here in Las Vegas. This was the most wonderful trip ever! Our Departure started at 11:55 PM and I got lucky and ate a medicine that made you sleepy. I slept the whole time and when I got home, I… was…SAD! I can’t wait for another trip!

The Adventuredome at Circus

Circus Located on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, Circus Circus has been a family favorite for years. The Adventuredome, formerly known as the Grand Slam Canyon, is a 5-acre indoor amusement park. The park is connected to the hotel inside a large glass dome, and currently offers 25 rides and attractions including the Canyon Blaster roller coaster, rock climbing wall, 18-hole miniature golf course, an arcade, clown shows, Xtreme Zone, Pikes Pass, Virtual Reality Zone, Midway Games, and carnival-type games. We went on rides and went to 4D movies like SpongeBob SquarePants and the Polar Express. SpongeBob was cool because there was jellyfish stinging you, bubbles and water coming out, and they even had snow throwing onto your face! In Midway, we went to shows like trapeze, juggling, acrobats and more. My favourite was foot juggling by Elaine Chen. She was lying down on a chair and was juggling pots and also tables!
